Rocco's Tacos Fort Lauderdale

We went to Fort Lauderdale to check out long awaited Rocco's Tacos on Las Olas Blvd. Not what you would traditionally expect from a taqueria. First we were greeted by valet service before even stepping it the door. The place was big, close to 200 seats and was near packed by 4:45.

We ordered from the expansive tequila list of over 100 selections, choosing both a Malegro and Gran Centario Anejo. The tortillas were pretty decent and fresh with a spiced salt on them. The house salsa was a jazzed up Pico de gallo.  I ordered three of the special sauces from the kitchen all pretty bland and mild. We ordered three Antojitos or appetizers. Traditional street corn with crema and cotija. The corn was not sweet which was rather surprising considering it corn season in florida. Stuffed jalapenos with cilantro jalapeno ranch which were very good. Also ordered two small crudo style tacos with cooked pineapple which were outstanding. My entree was their daily special of grilled chicken tacos with watermelon. Probably two of the worst tacos I've ever had. Dry and flavorless. My wife's vegetable burrito was decent. I'd go there with friends to check out the bar scene for cocktails and appetizers, not an intimate blow you away dinner
